Barnens utökade rätt i samhället – Från vittnen till målsäganden

On the first of July, 2021, it became a crime in Sweden to allow children to witness crimes between relatives. The crime is called ”barnfridsbrott” and exists in Chapter 4, Section 3 in the Swedish Criminal Code. The criminalization of allowing children to witness crimes between relatives was met with a positive response from most of the consultation bodies. Although it was welcomed with open arms

Tysta leken börjar nu – den som pratar åker ut? En rättsanalytisk uppsats om hur det nya kronvittnessystemet kommit till uttryck i Högsta domstolens prejudikatbildning

As a result of the increased gang violence in Sweden, a crown witness system was introduced on July 22, 2022, which has been widely criticized. However, the legislator considered such regulation to be predominantly necessary. By introducing a new paragraph, ch. 29 § 5 a in the Swedish Criminal Code, the legislation can be described as an attempt to escape the culture of silence and initiate an eff

On July 1st, 2018, a significant reform of Sweden’s rape legislation came into force through the introduction of a consent-based legal framework in Chapter 6, Section 1 of the Swedish Penal Code. This reform marked a paradigmatic shift from coercion-focused regulation toward an emphasis on individual sexual autonomy and voluntary participation. The purpose of this thesis is to clarify and critical

Den som inte kunde rå för sin brottsliga gärning ska således inteThe Conformity Principle is a fundamental legal principle within the Swedish system of criminal liability that states that those who did not have capacity or opportunity to act in accordance with the criminal law should not be punished for a crime. Numerous rules and several legal principles can be derived from The Conformity Principle. The rationale behind the Conformity Principle is that it woul

I proposition 2020/21:150 föreslog den dåvarande regeringen en lagstadgad tidsgräns på fyra månader när det kommer tiIn recent years, there has been a broad shift in the view of children’s and parental rights. A stronger children’s rights perspective has been established within Swedish law and politics. Several amendments have been made to the Children and Parents Code. One of these amendments can be found in Chapter 6, Section 19, third paragraph of the Children and Parents Code (sw. föräldrabalken (1949:381)).

A coding IRAK2 variant compromises TLR signaling and is associated with colorectal cancer survival.

Within innate immune signaling pathways, Interleukin-1 receptor (IL-1R&)-associated kinases (IRAKs) fulfill key roles downstream of multiple Toll-like receptors (TLR) and the IL-1R. Whereas human IRAK4-deficiency was shown to lead to severe immunodeficiency in response to pyogenic bacterial infection during childhood, little is known about the role of human IRAK2. We here identified a non-syno

Normal karyotype is a poor prognostic factor in myeloid leukemia of Down syndrome: a retrospective, international study

Myeloid leukemia of Down syndrome has a better prognosis than sporadic pediatric acute myeloid leukemia. Most cases of myeloid leukemia of Down syndrome are characterized by additional cytogenetic changes besides the constitutional trisomy 21, but their potential prognostic impact is not known. We, therefore, conducted an international retrospective study of clinical characteristics, cytogenetics,

Tender points as predictors of distress and the pharmacologic management of fibromyalgia syndrome

The object of this study was to determine the association between tender point pain ratings, tender point counts and distress in people with fibromyalgia and to review the pharmacotherapy of fibromyalgia. Demographic, psychosocial, and health status information was collected from 316 health maintenance organization members with fibromyalgia. A manual tender point exam was conducted. Tender point c

Blockade of the kallikrein-kinin system reduces endothelial complement activation in vascular inflammation

Background: The complement and kallikrein-kinin systems (KKS) are activated during vascular inflammation. The aim of this study was to investigate if blockade of the KKS can affect complement activation on the endothelium during inflammation. Methods: Complement deposition on endothelial microvesicles was assayed in vasculitis patient plasma samples and controls. Plasma was perfused over glomerula

Patients' initial steps to cancer diagnosis in Denmark, England and Sweden : what can a qualitative, cross-country comparison of narrative interviews tell us about potentially modifiable factors?

OBJECTIVES: To illuminate patterns observed in International Cancer Benchmarking Programme studies by extending understanding of the various influences on presentation and referral with cancer symptoms.DESIGN: Cross-country comparison of Denmark, England and Sweden with qualitative analysis of in-depth interview accounts of the prediagnostic process in lung or bowel cancer.PARTICIPANTS: 155 women

Global Modern Charcoal Dataset (GMCD) : A tool for exploring proxy-fire linkages and spatial patterns of biomass burning

Progresses in reconstructing Earth's history of biomass burning has motivated the development of a modern charcoal dataset covering the last decades through a community-based initiative called the Global Modern Charcoal Dataset (GMCD). As the frequency, intensity and spatial scale of fires are predicted to increase regionally and globally in conjunction with changing climate, anthropogenic activit

Modeling neural tube development by differentiation of human embryonic stem cells in a microfluidic WNT gradient

The study of brain development in humans is limited by the lack of tissue samples and suitable in vitro models. Here, we model early human neural tube development using human embryonic stem cells cultured in a microfluidic device. The approach, named microfluidic-controlled stem cell regionalization (MiSTR), exposes pluripotent stem cells to signaling gradients that mimic developmental patterning.
