A gap metric perspective of well-posedness for nonlinear feedback interconnections
A differential geometric approach based on the gap metric is taken to examine the uniqueness of solutions of the equations describing a feedback interconnection. It is shown that under sufficiently small perturbations on the Fréchet derivative of a nonlinear plant as measured by the gap metric, the uniqueness property is preserved if solutions exist given exogenous signals. The results developed r

An Industrial Dead-Time Compensating PI Controller
An industrial PI controller with dead-time compensation is presented. The advantage of the new controller compared with other dead-time compensating controllers is that it contains only three adjustable parameters; the gain, the integral time, and the dead time. The simple parametrization is obtained by calculating the process model needed for the dead-time compensation from the controller paramet
Integral Action - A Disturbance Observer Approach
Integral action is required in many controllers inorder to solve real world problems. Modeling errors anddisturbances are examples of issues that can be dealtwith by using controllers with integral action. This paper exploresthe use of disturbance observers to introduce integral action intoan output feedback controller. In particular, theproposed solution is generalized to include the case of plan

Heuristics for Handling Direct Upstream Demand in Two-Echelon Distribution Inventory Systems
This paper considers a two-echelon distribution inventory system with a central warehouse and a number of retailers. There is direct customer demand also at the warehouse. If this upstream demand requires a high service, it may be advantageous to give higher priority to customer orders compared to retailer replenishments. We suggest and evaluate techniques for handling this situation. One techniqu

Regional support for museum education in Scania - reform and consequence
This paper studies regional museum, archives and arts education commissions of the Region of Scania, reformed in 2009, from a policy analysis perspective. It describes the background, design and implementation of the new policy and analyses its effects. The paper gives detailed information on the complexities of policy tool design and implementation, and discusses it in the light of regional gover

Interaction Ecologies
In this paper we present one approach to understand palpability from the perspective of eco-systems of palpable devices. We will introduce the notion of Palpable Interaction Ecology that particular focus upon the properties that emerge from the interaction between people, their practices and palpable devices. This approach is derived from research into the use of pervasive healthcare services that

Spectral Efficiency of Schedulers in Non-identical Composite Links with Interference
Accurate system planning and performance evaluation requires knowledge of the joint impact of scheduling, interference, and fading. However, current analyses either require costly numerical simulations or make simplifying assumptions that limit the applicability of the results. In this paper, we derive analytical expressions for the spectral efficiency of cellular systems that use either the chann
