This paper describes the diagnostic criteria for presbyvestibulopathy (PVP) of the Classification Committee of the Bárány Society. PVP is defined as a chronic vestibular syndrome characterized by unsteadiness, gait disturbance, and/or recurrent falls in the presence of mild bilateral vestibular deficits, with findings on laboratory tests that are between normal values and the thresholds establishe
Effect of selenium on the induction of breast fibroadenomas by adenovirus type 9 and 1,2‐dimethylhydrazine‐induced bowel carcinogenesis in rats
Selenium in its organic and inorganic forms has been shown to inhibit the development of chemically induced, spontaneous and transplanted tumors. The present investigation was performed to study the effect of selenium (4 μg per ml of drinking water) on tumorigenesis of adenovirus‐type‐9‐induced breast fibroadenomas and on 1,2‐dimethylhydrazine‐induced bowel carcinogenesis in WF rats. It was found
Induction of mammary fibroadenomas in rats by adenovirus type 9
After inoculation of adenovirus type 9 into newborn Wistar/Furth rats, seven out of seven females developed one or several mammary fibroadenomas within 14–25 weeks after virus inoculation. No tumours were observed in male rats inoculated with the same virus or in untreated controls. Neonatal inoculations of adenovirus type 5, produced on the same HeLa cells, gave negative results in both sexes. Th
Linking local services to global manufactures
We assess how global shocks propagate from global manufacturing firms to local service providers through a spatial variation in export-driven service demand. We show that a 1% increase in a localised measure of exporting increases sales of service firms by around 0.08%. We also show that this link is local as the effect fades away after just 20 km, that it is more pronounced with larger and foreig

State-civil society relations in Gramsci, Poulantzas and Bourdieu: Strategic implications for the degrowth movement
Degrowth thought and strategies suffer from a tension between viewing the state as incapable of initiating transformational change and making a political appeal to it to do precisely this via targeted eco-social policies. While a small number of academic papers has theoretically addressed this tension, there is a lack in research on the strategic implications arising from conceptualizations of the

People, Companies in Cryogenics
News item in section labelled "People, Companies in Cryogenics", about a new musical composition which was the result of a collaboration between John Weisend (scientist and CSA Board Chairman) of the European Spallation Source and Mike Edgerton of Lund University.
Prolonged exposure for pain and comorbid PTSD: A single-case experimental study of a treatment supplement to multiprofessional pain rehabilitation
It is unclear how to address PTSD in the context of chronic pain management. Here we examine the potential benefits of an addition of prolonged exposure (PE) therapy for PTSD for adults attending multidisciplinary CBT for chronic pain. Four adults seeking treatment for chronic pain from a specialized pain rehabilitation service were offered PE for PTSD using a replicated, randomized, single-case e

“We try to be nuanced everywhere all the time”: Sweden’s feminist foreign policy and discursive closure in public diplomacy
This study examines how public diplomacy practitioners deal with gender dynamics as a form of ideological issue in foreignpolicy. Informed by the theory of discursive closure, this study focuses on understanding how Swedish public diplomacypractitioners make sense of the country’s feminist foreign policy in their daily work and what consequences this has for thecommunication of it. Based on semi-s
Word-initial consonant–vowel coordination in a lexical pitch-accent language
Previous research has acknowledged the effect of prosody on inter-gestural coordination, but specifically the effect of tones is still understudied. This paper has a two-fold purpose. First, it aims to explore effects of the Swedish word accents on word-initial consonant–vowel (CV) coarticulation. Second, it aims to revisit the existing evidence for tonal integration. Will a legacy of enhanced resource availability accelerate the soil microbial response to future climate change?
Soil microorganisms play an integral role in the regulation of carbon (C) cycling. In high-latitude ecosystems, climate warming is leading to higher plant productivity, shrub expansion and faster nutrient cycling; all of which increase resource availability to soil microorganisms. To understand how a legacy of enhanced resource availability affects the functional traits of microbial communities, a
Active Eight-Path Filter and LNA With Wide Channel Bandwidth and Center Frequency Tunability
This paper presents a differential eight-path bandpass filter with tunable center frequency and bandwidth. Fully differential Miller compensated Butterworth Gm-C biquads are used to implement the active low-pass filters required in the structure of the eight-path filter. The -3-dB bandwidth of each Gm-C filter can be tuned from 2.5 to 51 MHz by means of six digital bits. The center frequency of th
Analysis of imperfections in N-phase high-Q band-pass filters
The effect of clock skew and duty-cycle on the performance of high-Q N-phase band-pass filters (BPFs) have been examined in this paper. Following a mathematical approach and using the analytical derivations carried out, the effects of such non-idealities as clock skew and duty-cycle error are determined in an N-path filter. It is analytically proved that image signals from all integer multiples of
An N-Path Enhanced-Q Tunable Filter With Reduced Harmonic Fold Back Effects
A high-Q, tunable, bandpass filtered amplifier structure is proposed which is based on a novel Q enhancement technique in N-path filters. Using Fourier series analysis, frequency response of an N-path filter as well as the aliasing effects which are present in it are derived. Frequency translation of unwanted contents at higher frequencies to the center frequency of the bandpass filter is called h
Phenotypic responses of zooplankton to variable conditions
Organisms are continually challenged by multiple threats in the environment, and such threats are seldom constant in either time or space. Therefore, organisms must maintain physiological, behavioural, morphological and life- history adaptations across environments to prevent reductions in fitness. Freshwater ecosystems are particularly variable environments, and so organisms inhabiting lakes and
