Lena Ambjörn's main field of research is medieval medicine in the Middle East. She has produced textcritical editions of works attributed to the 9th century physician, astronomer and philosopher Qusta b. Luqa. Current projects concern the 10th century medical encyclopedia al-Mu'alajat al-Buqratiyya, Hippocratic treatments.
