Course
Course 15 credits • YIDC03
In this course you will learn about how the memory of the Holocaust has been preserved and processed in Jewish culture in different parts of the world.
The course provides an overview of the fundamental features of the Jewish remembrance of the Holocaust with a main focus on the cultural expressions of this remembrance in Europe (Western Europe, Central Europe and the former Soviet Union), the USA and Israel. This perspective is used to illuminate, among other things, important processes during which some of the most prominent Nazi war criminals were brought to justice, important historical-cultural products such as films, books, museums and monuments, and remembrance among the younger generations, the survivors' children and grandchildren, who were not immediately affected by theHolocaust, but who grew up strongly affected by the trauma.
