Course 7.5 credits • LIND06
Discover how language research works and learn the tools to do it yourself. This course gives you hands-on experience with real linguistic research methods. You’ll learn how to ask the right questions, collect data, and analyse it – all while preparing to write your own academic essay.
This course is designed for students who are new to linguistic research. You’ll explore how language can be studied scientifically and learn the basics of linguistic research methodology. The course prepares you to write a Bachelor’s level essay in linguistics by teaching you how to form research questions, choose suitable methods, and understand how theory connects to practice.
You’ll study both qualitative and quantitative approaches, and learn how to apply them to real-world language data. Whether you're interested in how people speak, write, or interact, this course gives you the tools to investigate language in a structured and scientific way.
