Jag talar inte svenska ännu, så jag skriver på engelska. Förlåt!

I am writing a grammar of a small language spoken in the east of Indonesia. It is called Kalamang and is used by around 150 people who live on a small island just off the west coast of New Guinea named Karas. Children are not learning the language, so Kalamang is bound to disappear within a few generations. No research on Kalamang has been done before. It looks like Kalamang belongs to one of the Papuan language families, but a precise classification requires more research. I will gather data for the grammar by doing field work on Karas.

By writing a grammar I hope to contribute to putting more focus on small non-European languages, which often are quite different from the well-studied European ones.
