English: Reading and Discussing in English for Administrative and Technical Staff

About this course:

If you are already quite good in English, but feel like you are not using all the English you know on the job, then this course is for you. This is a chance for you to read (mostly literary) texts and to engage in discussion with colleagues about literature, but also to learn more about grammar and vocabulary, with the aim of further enhancing your ability to use English. This course will consist of a total of 8 meetings (one two-hour meeting each week) over eight weeks, and will be based on texts of different lengths and genres. Readings and topics will vary between sessions.

Target group:

Lund University administrative and technical staff from all parts of the university who would like a reading and discussion-based English course to enable them to maintain their current level of English.

Workload:

This course is based on reading; in particular you will be required to read a novel and shorter texts over the period of the course, and may also be given other small assignments between sessions in order to deepen discussions in class.

Implementation:

Please note that this course is free of charge for participants and their work units. It is expected that participants will have approval from their supervisor to take part in the course. All courses will be taught by experienced lecturers from the English Unit at Lund University, who are affiliated with the Consortium for Academic and Professional English at the university (http://www.sol.lu.se/en/subjects/engelska/consortium-for-academic-and-professional-english/).
